An NEMT driver app drivers don't complain about

Duet's NEMT driver app shows each driver their day: every assigned trip in order, with the pickup, the dropoff, the time, and the rider's mobility needs. It navigates to the pickup, updates trip status with a tap, and handles clock-in, clock-out, and breaks. It's simple on purpose — drivers learn it in one sitting. iOS and Android.

A complicated driver app fails at 7 a.m. in a parking lot

The real test of a driver app isn't the demo. It's a cold morning in a parking lot, when a driver with a full day of dialysis runs opens their phone and either knows exactly where to go — or starts calling dispatch.

Plenty of operations still run the morning on texted screenshots and paper. And plenty of driver apps make it worse: menus inside menus, training courses nobody finishes, and a driver who quietly goes back to calling the office because calling is easier.

Software only counts if the person holding it uses it. Your drivers didn't sign up for software. They signed up to drive.

Duet's driver app is built for that 7 a.m. moment. Open it, see the day, drive.

How the day starts without it

  • A texted screenshot of the schedule, stale by the second trip
  • A paper manifest riding shotgun on the passenger seat
  • "Where do I go next?" calls eating the dispatcher's morning

What the driver sees

When a driver opens the Duet app, they see their day: every assigned trip in order, each one showing the pickup, the dropoff, the time, and the rider's mobility needs. Navigation, status updates, and the time clock are all one tap away. Here's each piece:

The whole day, in order

The driver opens the app and sees every assigned trip, in the order they'll run it. No screenshot to squint at, no manifest to decode.

Every detail that matters

Each trip shows the pickup, the dropoff, the time, and the rider's mobility needs — wheelchair, stretcher & gurney, or ambulatory.

Navigation to the pickup

The driver taps the trip and gets directions to the pickup. No re-typing addresses at a red light.

One-tap status updates

As the day runs, the driver marks each trip's status. That tap updates the dispatch board and the family's live tracking link.

Clock in, clock out, breaks

The time clock lives in the same app. Hours and breaks feed Duet's integrated payroll — no paper timesheet.

The pre-shift check

Before rolling, the driver runs the vehicle checklist you define — tagging each item pass, flag, or fail. Duet records the time, location, driver, and outcome for the office.

One tap from the driver moves the whole system

As the day runs, drivers update each trip's status in the Duet driver app with a tap — on the way, picked up, dropped off. That one tap updates the Duet dispatch board your dispatcher is watching and the live tracking link the rider's family is watching. Nobody calls anybody to ask where the van is.

1

The driver taps

On the way, picked up, dropped off — the driver marks the trip as the day actually happens. No radio call, no text to dispatch.

2

The board updates

The same tap moves the trip on the dispatch board, so your dispatcher runs the day from live statuses instead of check-in calls.

3

The family sees it

The same tap powers the rider's live tracking link, so the family watching for the van sees the trip move without calling your office.

That's the quiet payoff of one system: the driver's tap, the dispatch board, and the family's live tracking link all read the same trip record. Nothing gets re-entered, and nobody plays telephone.

Hours without the spreadsheet

Drivers clock in, clock out, and take their breaks in the same app they run trips from. Those hours feed Duet's integrated payroll, so the end of a pay period isn't a pile of texts, paper timesheets, and guesswork — the day a driver actually worked is the record you pay from.

It's one less system for the driver, too. The same app that told them where to go in the morning is the one they clock out of at night. Payroll, shift scheduling, and the rest of the management layer live in Duet's drivers & fleet tools.

Why the app is simple on purpose

Duet's driver app is simple because a driver app only works if every driver actually uses it. So we kept it to the job: see the day, navigate to the pickup, tap the status, clock in and out. Drivers learn it in one sitting — not one training course, one sitting.

That's a deliberate trade. Every extra screen a driver has to hunt through at 7 a.m. becomes a call to dispatch by 7:05. NEMT driving is a job people come to from all kinds of places — retirees, caregivers, second careers — and the app has to meet all of them where they are. Live team training is included, and we stay on video with your drivers until everyone's comfortable. Most teams don't need long.

It's the same philosophy across everything Duet does: software your team actually uses, and a growth team from the same company that fills the schedule the software runs.

What does the Duet driver app cost?

Nothing extra. The driver app is part of Duet's NEMT software — not a separate product, not a paid module. The software is free for providers running fewer than 100 trips a month and usage-based after that, and most providers pay less than $50 per active vehicle per month.

There's no per-vehicle license fee, no setup fee, and no contract — Duet is month-to-month, and never takes a cut of your trip revenue.

Full software and services pricing lives on the pricing page.

Driver app questions, answered

Is the Duet driver app on iOS and Android?

Yes. The driver app is live on both stores — download it for iPhone or Android. Drivers install it on the phone already in their pocket.

Is the driver app included, or does it cost extra?

It's included, and there are no hidden fees in Duet whatsoever — no per-driver charge, no per-app charge, nothing beyond the usage-based software fee. The software is free for providers running fewer than 100 trips a month and usage-based after that, with most providers paying less than $50 per active vehicle per month.

Can drivers do vehicle inspections in the app?

Yes. Admins define a list of things on the vehicle for drivers to check before starting a shift, and the driver tags each item "pass," "flag," or "fail." Duet records the time, location, driver name, and outcome, so the office sees every inspection without collecting a single clipboard.

How long does it take drivers to learn the app?

One sitting. The app is deliberately simple — the day's trips in order, navigation, one-tap status updates, and the time clock — and live team training is included. We stay on video with your drivers until everyone's comfortable.

Do drivers see the rider's mobility needs?

Yes. Every trip in the app shows the rider's mobility needs — wheelchair, stretcher & gurney, or ambulatory — alongside the pickup, the dropoff, and the time. The driver knows what the trip requires before pulling up to the door.

Can drivers clock in and out in the app?

Yes. Drivers clock in and clock out in the app, and breaks are tracked too. Those hours feed Duet's integrated payroll, so nobody reconstructs a pay period from texts and paper at the end of the week.

Does the app navigate to the pickup?

Yes. Each trip comes with navigation to the pickup — the driver taps the trip and drives. No re-typing addresses, and no "where do I go next" call to dispatch.

How do trips get into the driver's app?

Your dispatcher assigns trips on the Duet dispatch board, and each driver sees their assigned trips in the app, in order. The board and the app share the same trip record, so nothing gets re-entered between them.

What phones does the driver app work on?

Any current iPhone or Android phone. The app is in the App Store and on Google Play, and it's simple enough that the phone a driver already carries is the phone it runs on.
